KV-IV Fake Tank (1/100)
1/100 scale version
This is a completely fake tank and is based on the original model created by modeler Brian Fowler in 1997. So it is not something that even came close to being real. But it is a fun thing to produce and can be used to stir up an internet discussion or frighten your opponents with.
A word of warning. This is a big model with a lot of components and will consume a lot of filament and time.
Like the original model this design is a Frankenstein’s monster of a vehicle with parts from a number of other tanks. Apart from the KV-1s there are turrets from a T60 and a BT-7 as well as the Katyusha.
Gun barrels should be printed horizontally, I used the “touching build plate” support option in Cura.
You will need one of each piece except the deck turrets, of which four are needed. Print as many of the stowage items as you think you will need. Or you can make use of TigerAce’s Stowage pack.
If you check out the 1/56 scale version of this model, there is the option of an observation tower on top of the middle turret. I have not managed to print a tower I am happy with yet. But if you want to have a go, scale down the 1/56 version to 56% size. The Tower and tower with turret are completely optional, and provide the vehicle with the ability to hide behind something, like a small ural, and still be able to spot targets for it’s weapons. The quickest option is to print just the tower, clip off the base place and then glue or place it on top of the “midships’ turret. Printing the “Tower with Turret” option will take longer but is more robust.
Good printing and good luck
For a few giggles I have created a stats sheets for Bolt Action
