This Lego Eiffel Tower is based on the Lego set 21029-1. This is a fully assembled version of the set which can be printed in one piece. I took basic lego measurement units and applied them to make individual lego pieces, which were later assembled into this file. This can be printed in ABS or PLA; I haven't printed with other materials for this design. I'm willing to share my individual Lego files with anyone who wants to print them individually and put it together.

Note: the 4 curved pieces are supposed to be flexible, but it is merged with the other objects as a solid, rigid piece. If you want this part you may need to print in a flexible material or buy the lego in a quantity of 4 online (ID: 6062932). If you want to print the legos individually and assemble them, email me at [email protected] so I can send you the files.

Feel free to comment on this design as much as you like (but for the sake of the community, let's be nice - everything in the universe can be discussed peacefully).

EDIT: Ignore the fact that it's upside-down in the picture - I will change that to look better at some point. Rotation of the object in a printer's software will allow to print from the base of the tower.

Post-Printing

Removing supports

It is highly recommended to use a micro-shear flush cutter to remove supports on this print ( be careful with this as it is fragile). Also, you can use a pushpin to poke supports off from inside the top part with less hassle, as this is more precise. I personally haven't tried printing this without supports, but if your printer can withstand overhangs (and are up for a challenge), feel free to try printing without it and make sure to leave a comment on whether this was a success. I'm sure this doesn't require a raft, but if your printer has warping issues you may print a raft with it.

How I Designed This

My software

I used Autodesk Inventor to design this piece. I first designed each lego individually and then assembled them together to create the Lego Eiffel Tower.

Custom Section

A few more notes...

It is somewhat fragile (especially the pole on top), and there actually is engraving on the Eiffel Tower on both sides with the words "La Tour Eiffel" and "The Eiffel Tower." Print in a big enough volume in order to see these words on the side plates. (more than 6 in. in height)
