So the Stratolauncher is inching closer and closer to its first test flight. I saw a great video of it doing a taxi test and got excited about seeing this behemoth take flight!
This is approximately a 1:255 scale model. Each of the segments are designed to connect with 3mm diameter magnets. I ordered these off amazon for ~$10: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075P9QH8B/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They work well, and I'm happy with the result!
I'd recommend printing the Dream chaser first by itself, and sticking a caliper to the primary engine on it. If its 3mm then you're good to go to print the rest. If you're off by .1mm or so, then just scale it up, and then scale the rest of the parts appropriately. The size that I uploaded it worked for me to fit the magnets perfectly. Total wingspan is ~460mm. Dream Chaser wingspan is ~20mm.
The engine cores are pretty snug at this scale, I would also adjust those appropriately after printing the shells. In other words, scale everything based off of the Dream Chaser.
My kiddos wanted some bigger Dream Chasers, so that's what you're seeing in the photo with the purple and blue ones. If you scale them up to that size, the rest of the aircraft will have about a 5 foot wingspan... Good luck with that if you go that route!
Hope you guys enjoy! Special thanks to those patrons that support me!
