Like many people I used to love multi part plastic model kits in my youth, you know the Airfix, Testors, Revell type things. So I decided to try the same thing with the added advantages of scalability, easier mods, choosing the subject matter and of course price! This is my first attempt in that direction.

So here's my first void warship, the assault frigate. It differs from the standard frigate (built but not uploaded yet) in heavier armament, additonal vectoring drive modules, greater resulting mass and of course the fore bulls head shield. This is itself heavily energetically shielded and is primarily used as an ablative barrier allowing the assault frigate to,... assault more heavily armed vessels and installations whilst keeping it's own critical systems largely out of harms way. (Primary armament can still fire past the shield perimeter.) The shield would likely, along with the assault frigates greater mass and drive rating, be advantageous in a ramming scenario but there are no confirmed cases of this being demonstrated.
As with the standard variant the assault frigate carries two multi role ship's skiffs and flank broadside torpedo bays both port and starboard. The escape pod bays along the aft bridge superstructure are enhanced both in terms of number and performance owing to the greater likelihood of the Assault frigate finding itself operating greatly outgunned and behind enemy lines.

There is a standard frigate model using just a few different hull pieces and I was working on a much bigger cruiser but haven't touched it for a while. If anyone would be interested in these let me know. Hmm, I was also wondering about a stealth frigate,...

I was still getting used to my printer when I made this and had a few problems which involved reprinting single parts rather than whole sets, the upshot of which is the parts folder for this is utterly chaotic. If there are any parts missing I apologise and will add them as soon as I'm aware. Any excess parts I also apologise but you can probably just find a random spot to glue them on! :)
