The standard jet of the Air Force used a conventional all-metal airframe, with a slim low wing and tricycle landing gear. Six forward-facing machine guns were integrated in the fuselage, with space on the wings for an additional eight rockets or two bombs. Manufactured by Lockreed Industries, this jet fighter was the primary aircraft of the United States Air Force and (in its navalized version, with folding wings) the United States Navy.
Standard versions are found at the jet crash site in Point Lookout and Adams Air Force Base. Another was displayed as a monument at the Camp McCarran terminal building in Nevada.
