The GI Joe Dragonfly helicopter, another of my favorite childhood toys. As usual, the file is modeled at the size of the actual toy but is intended to be printed at 25%. If you print one larger or smaller it may have too much or too little detail.
Print the chassis, skids, and gun pod with the bottom side down with supports.
Print the chin turret upside down with supports.
Rotor blade is printed in the upright position; can be printed without supports.
The rockets are the most challenging part. Intended to be printed upside down with supports, then very careful cleaning around all the parts is required.
Note: My Makerbot has been broken for a while and I’m not entirely sure what is wrong with it…at this point I’ve resigned myself to simply replace parts until I fix it. I wasn't able to run complete test prints before posting these files (I don't like doing this) but I wanted to do something this weekend commemorate Memorial Day. At some point, hopefully soon, I’ll be posting painted versions of the model.
Much respect and gratitude to the men and women of our Armed Forces (past and present). Your sacrifice allows people like me to live in peace, freedom and make silly little toys like these. It's you people who are actually "the real American heroes" and I'm really, really proud of you.
